As a GLASS scholar, Evaine focuses on Quality Education (UN Sustainable Development Goals #4), Enhance Virtual Reality (NAE Grand Challenges for Engineering), and Emerging Media (NYU Tandon's Areas of Excellence). She aims to improve the accessibility, engagement, and effectiveness of cultural preservation and education through XR programs.

“The Global Leaders and Scholars in STEM (GLASS) program brings together and supports high-achieving undergraduates with the potential for becoming global leaders in innovation, technology, research, and entrepreneurship. Global Competency

NYU Shanghai Study Away

During my two-semester study abroad experience at NYU Shanghai in 2023, I took several Interactive Media Arts and social science classes, which sparked my interest in digital heritage. I also participated in various cultural immersion events and collaborated closely with the Student Life office. I served as a Site Ambassador and Study Away Program Assistant to support fellow students and enrich their campus life.

Leeds International Summer School

In summer 2024, I participated in the Leeds International Summer School. I took the Introduction to Special Effects in Filmmaking module, where I gained hands-on experience with green screen and learned how to use Adobe After Effects. Beyond the classroom, I explored the cultural and historical heritage of the UK through excursions to York, Bolton Abbey, Ilkley, Harewood House, and Whitby.

Academic Excellence

Global Tech Experience

During the Digital Marketing and Data Analytics programs through the Global Tech Experience with Podium Education, I participated in live labs, collaborating with students from diverse backgrounds and honing my intercultural communication skills. I gained hands-on experience in e-commerce, digital ads, Excel, and Tableau, working with hypothetical and real-world brand projects.

Digital Media Intellect VIP

As a Teaching Assistant of the Digital Media Intellect Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) team, I facilitated class communication and co-represented our team at a showcase. As a content creator, video editor, and project manager, I collaborated with teammates from various majors to produce video content for the client's social media channels.

Commitment to Service

Sri Lanka Alternative Break

In the summer of 2024, I joined a volunteering trip to Sri Lanka with NYU Tandon pre-health students, focusing on sea turtle and environment conservation. We cleaned beaches and rivers near human habitat, volunteered at a turtle hatchery by maintaining tanks, refilling water, and feeding turtles to support marine life sustainability. Additionally, we participated in mangrove reforestation, tree planting at a local school, and event facilitation at a local elderly home.

Peru Alternative Break

In January 2025, I went on a solo trip to Peru to volunteer at daycare schools. I supported the caregivers by assisting with daily activities, creating educational materials, and renovating the space with decorations. I stayed with a local family in Cusco and traveled around the area, overcoming the language barrier and immersing myself in the culture.

Leadership Development

NYU Shanghai Site Ambassador

During my first semester studying at NYU Shanghai, I served as a Site Ambassador, acting as a Student Government Assembly representative to advocate on behalf of students at NYU Study Away sites. I participated in regular meetings with the Student Government and ambassadors from other global sites and worked closely with the NYU Shanghai Study Away office to support inbound study away students.

NYU Shanghai Study Away Program Assistant

In my second semester at NYU Shanghai, I served as a Study Away Program Assistant with the Study Away Programs under the Office of Student Life. I participated in weekly meetings focused on event programming and community building both on and off campus. I also designed promotional materials such as posters and merchandise, facilitated events, and provided ongoing support to study away students during orientation and throughout the semester.

Professional Development

Internship at Tianzige NGO

Tianzige NGO is a non-profit organization based in Shanghai whose mission is to jointly create the Rural Humanistic Education Program and promote equity in Chinese rural education. As an intern, I assisted in the revision and page design of the official website, designed posters and brochures for event promotion, and attended weekly meetings.

HarvardXR Conference

The themes of HarvardXR2024 centered on Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through research and industry presentations, dicussions, and workshops, I learned how XR and AI have been applied in various fields, such as education, entreprenurship, and entertainment. These sessions inspired me to think how these emerging technologies may be applied in digital heritage.
